Kerala Storm Warning
Story Content
The humid Kerala air hung heavy as Anya stepped out of the terminal. Disillusionment clung to her like the sweat on her brow. Back for her father's campaign. A charade. She hadn't wanted to come, hadn't wanted to see his face, the face that represented everything she despised about politics: manipulation, power, and broken promises. Promises like the one he'd made to let her be, to let her love. Rohan. The memory still stung. He was the opposition, a rising star with ideals that clashed with her father's. Their love had been a casualty of that war. A hailstorm, sudden and violent, trapped everyone at the airport. Chaos erupted. Then she saw him. Rohan. Across the crowded terminal, their eyes met. A flicker of recognition, then guardedness. The years hadn't erased the ache. Later, amidst the cancelled flights and frustrated travelers, she overheard whispers, a hushed conversation about rigging the election, her father's name mentioned. A knot formed in her stomach. She found Rohan, his skepticism evident. "It's nothing, Anya. You're just seeing ghosts." But the fear in her eyes, the tremor in her voice, made him pause. He saw the Anya he once knew, the one who believed in justice. They decided to look closer. Old feelings resurfaced with each shared glance, each hushed conversation in the crowded corridors. The conspiracy snaked deeper than either could imagine, leading to a clandestine meeting involving their families. Their families were working together, selling out Kerala for profit. As they dug deeper, danger closed in. A chase through the airport, Rohan injured. Cornered, bleeding, he looked at her. “We have to expose them, Anya. For Kerala.” His words were a spark, igniting a fire in her heart. The storm outside mirrored the storm within her soul. She knew what she had to do. Betray her family, or betray her conscience.
